JBL Flip 4 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 508.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Sound I purchased a pair of Flip 4 to use in my Personal Fitness business when doing bootcamps in a gymnasium. Surprisingly, the pair of Flip 4's deliver great sound, and my class can still hear me fine as I shout out instructions. I pair them up, put them in stereo mode, and have them connected to my phone for easy volume control while I'm running around the gymnasium leading the bootcamp workout. At about 70% volume, they are loud and clear (I'm guessing 70% by the number of bars on my apple phone volume). I also use the pair in a massage therapy room, where they deliver clear stereo sound and music during massage therapy sessions. My only complaint, is that sometimes I'll hear some static, but not sure if it is due to low battery, poor internet connection, or poor bluetooth connection between phone and speakers. I usually let speakers run to about "1 dot" before charging. But I would say that 99% of time, sound is clear and no static. I would still recommend. Very happy with speakers. I recently took the pair on a road trip in my 4Runner, and loved the sound for both music and audio book listening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value The JBL Flip 4 is my first bluetooth speaker. I am simply amazed at the sound quality - including the deep rich bass. Syncing with my phone was quick, simple and trouble-free. I should have bought one of these a long time ago. Great value - great speaker.

Is there a way to shut off or turn down the volume of the start up noise? I like to use this speaker in a office environment but I don't like how loud the start up noise is? Is there a fix for this?

Asked by: MQ32q
I agree - it is loud on startup, so we just muffle it (pillow, seat cushion, jacket etc) before turning it on. This is the Only minor complaint, otherwise we LOVE the darlin!

I have a Flip 3 and we love it.  Looking to add 1 or 2 more and connect together to expand the sound area on my patio.  Is the connect button on the 3 compatible with the new 4? or vice-versa?

Asked by: 76BlueHen
No, they are not compatible. Only the JBL FLIP 4 and PULSE 3 when released can be paired wirelessly. The FLIP 4 has the JBL Connect+ while the FLIP 3 has JBL Connect. JBL Connect+ is only compatible with JBL Connect+ speakers and vice versa.

Can I lower the volume of 'connecting sound' and 'power on/off' ? I think they are way too loud.

Asked by: psy901
Unfortunately, the notification sound can't be adjusted. These are fixed feature settings which cannot be changed.

I'm using Flip 4 to playing guitar, using the 3.5mm line in. If I don't play a note for 5 seconds, it goes into a power save mode, at which point the next note I play is not audible while it "wakes up." Possible to extend this time/disable?

Asked by: hip_modernism
Hi all, I have the same problem. I have used OP-1 as well but any audio source prodces the same proble. Approx 5 seconds after audio drops below a certain level (TBD) the turns off the speaker drivers and requires another singal more than threshold (xxmV TBD) for approx seconds or so to enable the output. This means you cannot use this speaker to play any music, live or recorded, that has quiet portions. The "no signal" timeout setting should be made much much larger than 5 seconds and possibly reduce the level (as we all do not play hyper compressed music through these speakers). Approx 1minute timeout would be more sensible. One assumes this is a software issue. Can you update the firmware to change this timeout?

The flip 4 compared to the charge 3, what are some of the main differences, I don't know which one to buy, how loud and how good is the bass

Asked by: OGSxxGaming
The FLIP 4 is rated at 2 x 8W while the Charge 3 is rated at 2 x 10W with bigger passive radiators on both sides making the latter more powerful when it comes to audio and deep bass. The Charge 3 also has a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery that supports up to 20 hours of playtime and charges smart phones and tablets via USB.

Will the flip 4 fit inside the flip 3 case?

Asked by: JeffL
No, the Flip 3 carrying case is too small. At the moment, no carrying case is available for Flip 4. We suggest that you check out manufacturers that specialize in this kind of accessory.
