This sub has a 16gauge power cable and I will need to run a 5m power cable from my trunk to the battery. Would using 16gauge cable at this length be OK or should I connect the wiring harness to maybe a 10gauge power cord?

Asked by: RayRays
Yes .14-16 gauge should be fine in wiring at that distance.

Hello. What amp wiring kit should be used with this sub? I already have an 8 awg kit but the rear connectors do not seem to have the usual battery, amp Remote and ground connections.

Asked by: DangerousDave
Hi, and thank you for supporting JBL! Your subwoofer has a wiring harness in the box. You will see it in the owner's manual. This harness is used for all connections, power, signal, remote on-off etc. You cannot use the subwoofer without the harness. If you did not get the harness, I suggest that you contact place of purchase to get one.

Would having an additional amplifier hooked up for the extra 100Wrms of power be worth it, or will the speaker work at an almost unnoticeable difference by hooking the subwoofer straight to the stereo, being as it has a built in 100Wrms amp?

Asked by: AaronR
Hi. You cannot add an amplifier to the JBL Stage 800BA, because it is already an active subwoofer, with a built-in amplifier. If you really want to increase power, you will have to bypass the built-in 100W amplifier completely, and connect the woofer to an external amplifier. However, I would not recommend this. Doubling the power only adds 3db to the max. SPL, which is barely noticeable. You will have to go to 5 or 10 times the power to have a significant difference (10 times the power to double the SPL), and here you will hit the ceiling for the 8" woofer in the box, because it obviously cannot handle 500 or 1000 Watts. So if the sub is not sufficient for you as is, the best solution is to buy a bigger sub, 10" or 12", or even double 12", and run it with one of our specialized subwoofer mono amps. I hope this helps.
