I've had this same issue, and I fixed it. Even after charging for a long time, the Elite 700's would not turn on or show a red charging light. However, they were simply in the "update" mode. If you are having this problem after attempting an update via the JBL Headphones app, it's likely that the update failed. This happened to me, and the Android app was having issues, so I used an iPad with the JBL Headphones app to connect to the headphones and run the update via the app. It successfully updated the headphones, and they worked perfectly after that. I would highly recommend having the headphones and your device connected to their respective power adapters to ensure there is no loss of power during the update.
